In dealing with metal buildings I have be asked “Will it rust?” The best, most honest, direct, easy, not politically correct answer is, YES! To the best of my knowledge, metal will rust.

Of coarse, if the metal is protected from the elements, the metal will not rust. This is not to be contradicted from the statement above “metal will rust”. My point is simply this, metal, when used in many types of structures exposed to the elements of nature, will eventually rust.

When considering a building made from metal, consider the metal protection – i.e. the coating. Many building manufacturers may make claims as to the durability of the type of building provided. Some may provide warranties up to 20 or 30 years. When looked at, the 2or 30-year warranty is a “paint” warranty. The paint warranty is only as good as the metal surface. When the metal fails, the paint warranty is usually void.
